  • 12/03/08: The day after Thanksgiving, Michael Ciamarra, vice president of the Alabama Policy Institute and the Alabama chair of American Solutions, made an article[1] available that details the spread of transparency across the United States. According to the article, Alabama may also be more transparent in 2009. To be introduced by State Senator Arthur Orr and Representative Mike Ball next year, the “Alabama Right to Know” legislation would create a searchable transparency database including expenditures, contracts, and grants. Ciamarra concluded by saying “The Alabama-Right-to-Know movement advances that often elusive, yet vitally important goal of full accountability to taxpayers. In other words, it would be real change to the status-quo way business is done in Montgomery.” We look forward to tracking this legislation’s progress next year.
